This concept catamaran can crawl to the beach to leave your car

Not everyone will admit it, but it is quite clear that superyachts are one of the most ubiquitous signs of wealth. Imagine the port of Monaco during the F1 Grand Prix weekend; everyone has their boat parked next to the circuit. It’s a very expensive exercise to flex your peers, but what if your yacht could crawl to the beach, drop a car and be ready to go when you get back?

Fortunately, a recent article on RobbReport presents a concept that can do just that. Called Pagurus, which translates to crab in Latin, this monstrosity was elaborated by Italian geniuses in Lazzarini Design. A quick look at the studio’s previous projects shows that no idea is unattainable for them.

As you may have guessed, the focal point of this 25-meter beast is its catamaran shape. However, turn it upside down and you will find 6 meter long spiral cylinders that fall under the hulls to advance the ship when you emerge on land. With each powered by a 440 horsepower (328.1 kilowatt) diesel engine, you won’t be able to go very far, but they will allow the captain to implant a Tesla Cybertruck under negative space.

As such, Lazzarini originally wanted to use the catamaran for military applications, but he looked elsewhere after seeing a huge increase in luxury yacht buyers who wanted land and sea adventures.

Once passengers have finished exploring the Cybertruck, they can simply drive the vehicle back to the platform and board the Pagurus. Another useful feature of the boat is that it can charge the Tesla during transit, thanks to the huge banks of solar panels on the deck – the boat can also recover energy from the screw cylinders under the hull.

After the transition from land to water is complete, Lazzarini imagines that he will have a pair of 900 hp (671.1 kW) Caterpillar diesel engines to propel the ship anywhere in the world at a maximum speed of 25 knots (28 , 7 mph). We cannot say whether or when that idea will come true, but it would probably earn a badge as Overlanding’s definitive home base.
