Actress Debra Jo Rupp recently spoke about WandaVision’s surreal asphyxiation scene, which she said was fun, but also a little challenging, to film.
While the strange choking scene in the first episode of WandaVision, “Filmed before a live studio audience”, it took a while for actor Debra Jo Rupp to get it right, she loved playing it.
“Well, first of all, it was the most fun thing I’ve ever done, in my life,” said Rupp when asked about the scene in an interview with Collider. “He was doing two things at the same time. It was very challenging, which I loved, and the director was extremely patient because I continued,” Wait, what? What do you want me to do? No, I do not understand. Wait what? “

The actor explained that once she got the hang of things, she kept wanting to take more shots because of how much fun it was to shoot. “Also, I knew where this fit in the episode and I knew it was practically the first crack, so it was very exciting,” added Rupp.
The scene showed Arthur Hart of Fred Melamed choking on a piece of food, while Mrs. Hart of Rupp continually said, “Stop it.” It was a surreal and disturbing moment that shocked many viewers, and also dropped a strong hint that the suburban life of Wanda and Vision is not what it seems. In addition, the end of the episode would reveal that someone was watching Wanda and Vision on TV.
Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air on Fridays on Disney +.
