The video captures the Texas mother approaching a man accused of spying through his daughter’s window

The dramatic video captured a Texas woman approaching a man accused of peeking out of his teenage daughter’s bedroom window. CBS DFW reports that a police camera captured the moment when mother Phyllis Pena approached the man who was supposedly outside her home looking at her 15-year-old daughter.

“I thought at least I could do it, if I knocked him down, made him stumble, whatever, then they would have a chance to get caught,” said Pena. “The first instinct was just to make sure he didn’t go any further.”

Lake Jackson Police

The Lake Jackson Police Department said officers were called to the house on the morning of January 31 after receiving a report of “a suspicious man in the area who looked out of a house window”.

Officials said a man with the description tried to escape when he saw them. But the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Zane Hawkins, was approached by Pena. His daughter then ran and helped to hold the suspect until the police caught up with him.

After the suspect was taken into custody, the police told the mother that she had made a “very good attack”.

“The policeman punched me and said, ‘Hey, I heard the texans are looking for a new linebacker, “” Pena said.

Hawkins was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, evasion from prison and resistance to imprisonment.
