The United States will begin to require people flying from the UK to test Covid-19 negative no more than 72 hours before departure, the CDC said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement said President Donald Trump will sign the order on Friday, Christmas Day. It will take effect on Monday.

Earlier this week, the United Kingdom said it had identified a new strain of Covid-19 that appears to spread more quickly. Dozens of countries have quickly restricted UK travel to prevent tension from entering their own borders.
