Rose Leslie is returning to HBO as The Time Traveler’s Wife.
THE War of Thrones vet will star next to Theo James (Sanditon) in a serial adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s beloved novel, which has since been turned into a 2009 film starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, our sister site reports Deadline.
Adapted by Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Doctor Who), The Time Traveler’s Wife tells the magical love story of Clare Abshire (Leslie) and Henry DeTamble (James), whose marriage has a big problem: time travel.
Leslie’s Clare is described as “fiery, intelligent and unstoppable”. Since she was 6, “Clare has an imaginary friend: a kind and funny man, sometimes old, sometimes young, who appears in the forest behind his house and tells him stories of the future … Over the years, and she grows up and becomes a beautiful young woman, she begins to realize that her friend is not imaginary – he is a time traveler, coming from the future. “
James, for his part, plays the aforementioned time traveler Henry. “His life is a roller coaster of constant danger and unyielding survival … until one day he meets a beautiful redhead in the library where he works. Her name is Clare Abshire and although he has never seen her before, she claims to have known him all his life. “
Following your turn as War of Thrones‘Ygritte, Leslie co-starred alongside Christine Baranski in the first three seasons of CBS All Access’ The good fight. As for James, he most recently was the main attraction of the UK drama Sanditon. He is perhaps best known for his role as Four in the Divergent film franchise.
Leslie and James’s cast comes two and a half years after the hairdresser initially delivered Moffat’s adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife a direct order for the series.
