A senior Teen Vogue employee who posted a letter expressing concern about Alexi McCammond for racist tweets against Asian Americans, used the N word in tweets more than 10 years ago.
Christine Davitt, Senior Social Media Manager at Teen Vogue in 2009, wrote two tweets to a friend identifying him as “ni – a” and in 2010 used the word “ni – a” in a joke tweet. The friend appears to be white.

Davitt it says in multiples tweets that she is of mixed Irish and Filipino ancestry.
McCammond, 27 and an up-and-coming reporter at Axios, had been scheduled to take the lead role at Teen Vogue before his previous tweets sparked a storm among the Teen Vogue team. After the shooting in Atlanta that left eight dead on Tuesday, six of them Asian-American, McCammond and Teen Vogue split up.
Neither Davitt, McCammond or Teen Vogue could be reached immediately for comment. Davitt’s tweets were not deleted at the time of writing, but after Fox News investigative reporting, his account was switched from public to private.
Davitt posted on March 8 a letter on Instagram from the Teen Vogue team expressing concern to the Conde Nast management about hiring McCammond, “in light of his previous racist and homophobic tweets.” “So proud of my @teenvogue colleagues. The work continues …” Davitt wrote in a caption.

McCammond announced that he would not join Teen Vogue as editor-in-chief as originally planned, saying his previous tweets “obscured the work I did to highlight the people and issues I care about”.

Teen Vogue published a story in October 2019 with the title “Stop using N-Word if you are not black”.
The article criticized Latin actress Gina Rodriguez for singing the word “ni – a” in a post on social media. He argued that non-blacks should never use the N-word and that the people who use it have an “almost competitive rejection of blackness”.

McCammond is dating former White House press officer TJ Ducklo. Ducklo and the Biden government split last month after he threatened a Politico reporter who planned to publish a story about their relationship. McCammond was a reporter for the White House for a period of his relationship before moving on to cover Congress. The couple was seen together on Saturday.
