The Pokémon Company is ending sword and shield tricks

The Pokémon Company is implementing stricter measures to deal with cheaters in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The company shared a statement on Pokémon Home addressing the problem and outlining some of the ways in which it plans to penalize those who change game data or use hacked Pokémon in Switch games.

“We are aware that some users are playing Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, as well as using Pokémon Home, with changed data,” the statement begins. “In addition, certain users have caused problems that impair the functioning of games or applications or that cause problems for others.”

The statement continues to list the steps the Pokémon Company will take against users suspected of using altered data, including banning them from playing online at Sword and Shield and preventing them from using the Pokémon Home trading features. The company says it may even suspend hacker access to Pokémon Home entirely on mobile and Switch devices.

“These measures may be applied temporarily or indefinitely at the discretion of The Pokémon Company. No refunds or refunds will be issued as a result of these measures,” the statement continues. “Be aware that similar measures will be taken regularly in the future and that additional restrictions and other measures may be imposed without prior notice. We will continue to regularly observe and address inappropriate or disruptive behavior to help our users worry. Free experience.”

This is not the first time that The Pokémon Company has announced plans to deal with cheaters. Last August, the company released a statement saying it was aware that some users deposited hacked Pokémon in Pokémon Home and would take steps to remove these altered monsters.

In other Pokémon news, a Lunar New Year Max Raid event is underway in Sword and Shield. This weekend, Tauros, Miltank and Bouffalant will appear in Max Raid lairs more often than usual to celebrate the Year of the Ox, and players will have a chance to meet Shiny Tauros in five star Raids. This event takes place until 15h59 PT / 18h59 ET / 23h59 UTC on Sunday, January 24th.
