The Pillars of Eternity will no longer have patches activated, despite unresolved issues

On a statement on Twitter today, Versus Evil, the publisher of the Switch port of Pillars of Eternity, stated that the game will no longer receive patches, as “it has reached a limit of what we can do with our updates”.

“[We] we’ve exhausted the options that we had from the original PC in relation to the limitations of the hardware we’re working on, ”said Versus Evil in the statement, referring to the Nintendo Switch. As some people have pointed out, the similar Divinity: Original Sin 2 works well on the console , so presumably there is something going on with the Pillars door that we are not aware of.

The game will appear to be in the state it is currently in, although that includes many bugs, “like the Ranger pet that doesn’t show up,” acknowledges the publisher. The game is still fully priced in the eShop, despite having a 75% discount on Steam, and Versus Evil notably offered no refunds, although the game has been released on Switch since 2019.
