The New York Times columnist criticized Biden’s accusations, Tara Reade, ‘full of inconsistencies’

New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg tried to sum up on Monday why Democrats are not overwhelmingly calling for the resignation of New York Democratic governor Andrew Cuomo amid two scandals.

Goldberg began his column by saying that “it seems pretty obvious” that the allegations of sexual harassment and inadequate advances against Cuomo are credible and it is “hard to imagine how an investigation could exonerate the governor”.

The columnist predicted that “if this scandal had broken out a few years ago, high-ranking Democrats would have no choice but to ask Cuomo to step down. Since then, however, some things have happened.

“After George Floyd’s death and last summer’s protests, the location of our cultural wars has changed from sex to race,” added Goldberg. “Tara Reade made accusations against Joe Biden that drew national attention, but proved to be full of inconsistencies. And the most significant, among many Democrats, is a tremendous bitterness towards those who pressured Al Franken to leave the Senate in 2018 after him have been accused of stealing several asses of women. “

NEW YORK GOV. ANDREW CUOMO ACCUSED BY THE THIRD WOMAN OF UNWANTED SEXUAL ADVANCES

It is not clear what Goldberg meant by his statement that Reade’s allegations against the incumbent president were “full of inconsistencies”.

Critics criticized the Times columnist, with some on social media accusing her of throwing Reade “under the bus”.

“In her last column, @michellebklyn blames Tara Reade for the end of the MeToo movement (!!), not a party media class that has radically and abruptly changed its standards and approach on this issue to protect the politician she favored. Shocking beyond words, “Jacobin Magazine journalist Branko Marcetic reacted.

“Goldberg was an important part of this media impulse, usually claiming that Reade’s story was ‘ambiguous’ or ‘inconsistent’ when compared to [Christine] Blasey Ford, who she personally defended. But in fact, anyone who has examined the facts of the case knows that Blasey Ford (whom I consider credible) had many inconsistencies in her history (one of the things Republicans used against her), did not tell her story for decades ( not even for her husband), and three key witnesses said they couldn’t remember the party. “

CUOMO SAYS IT WAS ‘FUN’, BUT ADMITS THAT ‘MAY HAVE BEEN INSENSITIVE’ IN THE MIDDLE OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT CLAIMS

Marcetic continued: “At the time, there were reams of pages from liberal columnists explaining why it didn’t make Ford unbelievable, all of which they reversed when it came to Reade & Biden. Ford’s questions about Reade, which had a lot of corroborative evidence. “

“#MeToo’s death is because it never existed,” said actress Rose McGowan. “It’s a communication tool. It’s true. Me and Tara Reade are a movement. Liars like you @michelelbklyn and Alyssa Milano are class frauds that embarrass others who don’t exceed their distorted standards of purity. #Liars #NYT”

“Siri: show me an identified feminist who destroyed #MeToo by engaging in hypocrisy, including, but not limited to, applying the exact argument against Tara Reade that Republicans used against Blasey Ford and who projects their guilt on Reade, the who she played under the bus, “wrote progressive podcast presenter Katie Halper.

TARA READE BACKS LINDSAY BOYLAN, RIPS MEDIA ‘COLLECTIVE COLLUSION’ TO DOWNLOAD CUOMO SCANDAL

“The rumor among the elite Democrats, apparently, is that we have to keep Cuomo, the sex plague, because it was necessary to pretend that the accusations against Biden were unreliable and the wealthy donors are still upset with Al Franken,” concluded the The Week correspondent Ryan Cooper.

Reade criticized Goldberg’s “ridiculous” assessment of his claims, telling Fox News that the so-called “feminist icon” columnist never came to ask about the alleged sexual assault of 1993 by his then boss, Senator Joe Biden.

LINDSEY BOYLAN CALLS CUOMO TO DEMONSTRATE OR BE REMOVED FROM THE OFFICE: HE CANNOT CHOOSE HIS JUDGE AND JURY, ‘WE HAVE’

“I hope they don’t reveal my story with Biden every time they want to justify themselves for not supporting survivors or supporting an investigation for a Democrat,” Reade told Fox News. “I think what is happening here is a pattern of behavior that I think the public is aware of where the #MeToo movement or that movement to hold powerful men accountable is only for certain men and they will support only a few survivors and not all survivors. And I think that was blatantly clear. I mean, it’s very clear. “

She added: “Democrats know that if they hold Cuomo accountable and ask him to resign, they will have to ask Biden the same to avoid the obvious hypocrisy of it all.”

Goldberg did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.

Last year, Reade filed allegations that Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 when she worked as an employee. Biden and his campaign have repeatedly denied her claims.

Last week, three women accused Cuomo of sexual misconduct.

Lindsey Boylan, Cuomo’s former deputy secretary for economic development and special adviser, accused the Democrat of making sexually charged comments, unwanted touches and forcibly kissing her on the lips during an individual meeting. Cuomo’s office denied his claims.

Charlotte Bennett, an executive assistant and health policy consultant in the Cuomo government, claimed to the New York Times that the governor asked inappropriate questions about his sex life in his office.

The third woman, Anna Ruch, told the Times that Cuomo touched her bare lower back and asked if he could kiss her during a wedding reception in 2019.
