Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (DN.J.) said on Tuesday that she witnessed colleagues leading people on tours of the Capitol in the days prior to the violent riot that engulfed the building last Wednesday, calling the visits “recognition” of the siege .
“We cannot have a democracy if members of Congress are actively helping the president to overturn the election results,” said Sherrill during a live broadcast on Facebook.
“And therefore, not only do I want the president to be removed and never run for office again and not have access to classified material, I also want to see that the members of Congress who helped him; the members of Congress who had groups passing by the Capitol that I saw on January 5 – an acknowledgment for the next day; members of Congress who incited this violent crowd; members of Congress who tried to help our president undermine our democracy; see if they are held accountable and, if necessary, ensure make sure they don’t serve in Congress, ”he added.

Sherrill joins a growing list of Democrats seeking removal of their colleagues for the roles they say they played in inciting protesters.
