The media praises Pete Buttigieg as the ‘first’ openly gay Cabinet member, snubbing incumbent former DNI Ric Grenell

Several members of the mainstream media welcomed Tuesday’s confirmation from Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg, falsely declaring him to be the “first” homosexual to lead a government agency.

Buttigieg, the former South Bend, mayor of Ind. And a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, was confirmed by the Senate by an overwhelming 87-13 vote.

Although some in the media have correctly stated that Buttigieg is the first LGBTQ Cabinet member to be confirmed by the Senate, many others have wrongly praised his nomination as the first LGBTQ Cabinet member of all time, completely ignoring the former acting Director of Intelligence. National Ric Grenell.

“BREAKING: Pete Buttigieg confirmed as Transport Secretary, becoming the first openly gay member of a presidential cabinet,” NBC News incorrectly tweeted the breaking news before issuing a correction.

HERE ARE THE 13 GOP SENATORS WHO VOTED AGAINST SECRETARY BUTTIGIEG’S CONFIRMATION

“BREAKING: The Senate confirmed Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transport with an 86-13 vote; the former mayor of South Bend is the first openly LGBTQ cabinet secretary,” said CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy.

“With an 86-13 vote, the Senate confirmed @PeteButtigieg as secretary of transport. He is making history as the first openly LGBTQ cabinet secretary,” said CBS White House correspondent Weijia Jiang.

“BREAKING: Pete Buttigieg is confirmed by the overwhelming majority as transport secretary and, by a vote of 86 to 13, now becomes the first openly gay Cabinet member in American history,” wrote Washington Post reporter Matt Viser in a tweet wiped out.

BUTTIGIEG FLOATS GAS TAX HIKE DESPITE CONCERN WITH REGRESSIVE IMPACT

“86-13, the Senate confirms @Pete Buttigieg as U.S. transport secretary. He becomes the first openly gay cabinet secretary in history,” said NBC News reporter Sahil Kapur.

“BREAKING: Pete Buttigieg just made history by becoming America’s first openly gay cabinet officer,” put the LGBTQ PinkNews media in its headline.

While some journalists like Viser and Kapur altered their inaccurate tweets, The National correspondent Joyce Karam strangely doubled her false statement after critics corrected her tweet.

“There is a long list of US LGBTQ ambassadors, but no cabinet member confirmed by the Senate. Mayor Pete is the first. Rejecting or refuting that does not make it disappear!” Karam exclaimed. “Not even trolling. Facts, truth are stubborn things. Fortunately, not measured by clickbait reports.”

Grenell himself congratulated Buttigieg for his confirmation by offering a subtle nod to those trying to rewrite history.
