The leaked images allegedly show new AirPods 3 with in-ear design and smaller case

AirPods are expected to be updated this year with a new Pro-style design from AirPods. Recently leaked images from 52audio this weekend, we claim to offer our first real-world view of the redesigned AirPods, highlighting the silicone tips, the redesigned charging case and more.

Bloomebrg was the first to report on Apple’s plans to launch new basic AirPods. These AirPods will feature a shorter stem and replaceable ear tips. Ming Chi-Kuo also reported that Apple will launch new AirPods with a design similar to AirPods Pro.

The biggest change here is that it means the AirPods 3 would feature an in-ear design, instead of resting on your ear like today’s AirPods do. This is corroborated by the new images leaked by 52audio, who previously shared selected images from AirPods 3, but is now sharing additional images (via MacRumors)

The images show the AirPods 3 with a design clearly inspired by the AirPods Pro. They feature a shorter stem with an in-ear design using silicone tips. The charging case has also been redesigned to be slightly smaller and narrower. The report adds that these AirPods 3 would feature the same controls as the AirPods Pro Force Sensor.

In terms of features, the site also reports that the AirPods 3 will feature Apple’s specialized ventilation system for pressure equalization, which aims to minimize discomfort when using AirPods for a long period of time. Today’s report also suggests that AirPods 3 will support space audio. AirPods 3 is expected to have no other AirPods Pro features, such as Active Noise Canceling and Transparency Mode.

Finally, the report says that the AirPods 3 will likely cost around $ 150 and will be launched in March 2021. That said, it is to treat this rumor with some skepticism, especially with regard to features and prices. While the new design looks almost certain at this point, other details are still in the air.
