A newly leaked image claims to offer our first real-world look at the redesigned notch that could be on the way with the iPhone 13. This comes after several reports suggested that Apple plans to reduce the size of the notch with this year’s iPhone update. .
As first reported by MacRumors, the Greek technology repair company iRepair has achieved what it claims to be the front glass panels of the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The images clearly show the iPhone’s front glass panels in three sizes different, each with a smaller notch.
Also in this image, you can see that the headset has been moved upwards from the notch and into the top panel. This design change was first announced last year in relation to the iPhone 12 line, but in the end it did not happen. Instead, iPhone 12 features the same notch design as iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone 11.
Although this image offers a good way to view a smaller notch with the iPhone 13, we would treat it with some skepticism. Again, there were rumors about this design change and this image could very well show something that was created based on leaked schemes from last year.
With that said, there is evidence that the iPhone 13 released this year will have a smaller notch. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported earlier this month that the iPhone 13 series will feature a smaller notch as one of the “major changes in hardware specifications”
The supply chain blog Macotakara also reported in January that the iPhone 13 would feature a smaller notch. This report specifically mentioned that this change would be possible by repositioning the headset cutout.
