Google’s phone line is a bit confusing, with devices like the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5, offering only subtle differences between them, and it may not be clearer this year. Well-known informant OnLeaks and Voice shared what they say are leaked design details of a Pixel 5a, and it would effectively be a remix of the 4a 5G. That wouldn’t be entirely bad among the 6.2-inch OLED screen, dual rear cameras, headset and stereo speakers, but anyone hoping for a makeover would be disappointed.
There are no firm specifications beyond these, so it’s not clear whether the Pixel 5a would include 5G, a faster processor or other internal updates over the simple 4a. While the 5a could have the same screen and camera count as the 4a 5G, it wouldn’t be surprising if Google slows down performance to keep the price low and give you a reason to spend on more expensive pixels.
It is not known when the Pixel 5a will arrive. The 4th was launched in early August, but its debut was hampered by the pandemic – many expected a new phone at I / O in May, before Google canceled the event. The company could try to advance version 5a to get back on track, but there is no guarantee that it will replace 4a as quickly. Whenever a 5a appears, it can make choosing the phone much more difficult.
