Netflix’s new original series, “Bridgerton”, is full of hot storylines, whimsical balls, stimulating gossip and sensational fashion.
The show, which was adapted from Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, follows the social season in Regency London, and so far more than 63 million viewers have watched.
Produced by Shondaland and created by Chris Van Dusen, the focus of “Bridgerton” is on the combination, but the audience is also delighted with the fashion of the show.
The “Bridgerton” wardrobe does not mimic the exact clothes and style options of 1813 Regency London. Instead, costume designer Ellen Mirojnick made reference to color palettes, fabrications and silhouettes from the 1950s and 1960s, according to Vogue.
“I looked at the Regency period in London through drawings and paintings. We got a taste of it and then it was about looking at the different silhouettes and shapes, knowing that it had to be an aspiration, rather than historical precision”, she said Voga.
At the end of the season, more than 7,500 pieces of costume were designed and created – some incorporated with hidden meanings.
