The first series generated a substantial buzz and scared Netflix viewers in 2018.

But Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan dashed the hopes of fans of the anthology series who were wondering about a possible follow-up to this year’s third season of Haunting of Bly Manor.

Writing in a tweet on Wednesday morning, Flanagan, 42, responded to a viewer who asked, ‘any chance of another Haunting chapter in the future?’

“At the moment, there are no plans for more chapters,” he wrote.

‘Never say never, of course, but now we’re focused on a complete list of other @intrepid projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change, we will absolutely warn everyone! ‘

Intrepid is responsible for Intrepid Pictures, a production company founded in 2004, currently co-directed by Flanagan, who produced feature films as his work as director last year, Doctor Sleep.

The Haunting Of Hill House, 2018, loosely based on the book of the same name by Shirley Jackson, starring Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti.

The series received stellar reviews from both critics and viewers, obtaining 93 and 91 percent, respectively, for the critic’s composite score and average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

This year’s The Haunting Of Bly Manor starred the same group of actors in different roles, in an obscure Gothic love story loosely based on Henry James’ 1898 ghost story, The Turn Of The Screw.

The last installment, while still able to impress critics, disappointed viewers, who generally found it too slow.

Bly Manor got a 87 percent critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but the show’s audience score dropped to 62 percent.

But even if the prospect of new Haunting chapters seems unlikely, more material from Flanagan and Intrepid is indeed on the horizon: Deadline reports that Intrepid Pictures signed an exclusive TV contract with Netflix last year.
