The Beach Boys sell control of interest in their masters and brand

The Beach Boys sold control of the group’s intellectual property to Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group, Rolling Stone reports. The sale includes the group’s master recordings and part of their publication, but unlike recent deals made by artists like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, the sale of the Beach Boys also includes the rights of the brand as a whole and the group’s memories .

Azoff did not disclose how much he paid for the shareholding control, but the band will retain a stake in its intellectual property. “They can make the final decision about business decisions, which is what we really need – what we need, I must say,” said Al Jardine Rolling Stone.
