John Reilly, a veteran soap star whose daytime credits included a long season at General Hospital, died on Saturday night, his daughter confirmed. He was 84 years old and no cause of death was revealed.

Born in Chicago, Reilly appeared in the soap opera As the world spins like Dr. Dan Stewart. He then participated in television programs As the west was defeated, Quincy ME and Dallas.
He joined General Hospital in February 1984 as Sean Donely. The race lasted 11 years and followed several arcs of history from bandit to good guy.
