In addition to upgraded model S sedan, Tesla launched the Model X Plaid on Wednesday, with great power and a completely refurbished interior.

Thanks to its three-engine configuration, the Model X Plaid produces an incredible 1,020 horsepower. It comes standard with “carbon sleeve” brake rotors, four-wheel drive and torque vector technology for better handling. Tesla says the Model X Plaid can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and reach 163 mph. These are interesting improvements over the long-range Model X, which takes 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph and has a top speed of 155 mph. However, the Long Range still has the, uh, longest range, with an estimated 360 miles. The Plaid, in turn, reduces that number to an astonishing 340 miles.

The Model X Plaid receives the same major interior makeover as the Model S, headed by a steering wheel that is no longer a steering wheel. The new 17-inch central touchscreen also arrives on the Model X, with 10 teraflops of processing power and endless opportunities for distraction.

From the outside, the Model X receives some subtle style adjustments, including a softer front panel and a refurbished rear diffuser. New 20 and 22 inch wheels are also offered.

According to the Tesla configurator, the first deliveries of the Model X Plaid are estimated for April. Plaid costs $ 119,990 before any tax incentives, which represents an increase of $ 30,000 in the long run.
