Terraria arrives at Google Stadia, despite the developer’s ultimatum

After a period of uncertainty, Terraria is now available on Google Stadia. In early February, the co-creator of the 2D action-adventure game canceled development after being blocked on his Google accounts for a reason he said did not exist. Today, Terraria arrives at Stadia with the Journey’s End update, as well as all content from 1.3.1 to 1.3.5.

Andrew Spinks originally used the Terraria account to ask for help in mid-january, no reply. After receiving no response from Google, Spinks stated that the game was officially canceled, writing “I absolutely did nothing to violate your terms of service, so I can’t understand it any other way than if you decide to burn this bridge. Consider burnt. “

On February 27, Eurogamer noticed an update on the Terraria forums where Re-Logic said the launch was no longer canceled and was under certification review. “As you may have noticed, we had a ton of problems starting the year due to the blocking of Redigit’s entire Google account in early January,” the statement said. “After a month of pressure (and with the immense support of our fans), Google finally got in touch and was able to provide a lot of transparency about the situation and restore access to all of our accounts.”

The statement continued: “Due to the hard work that the Stadia team did – as well as our partners at 505 Games – we have decided that we will allow the next release [of] Terraria at Google Stadia to proceed. “

Terraria was launched by Re-Logic on the PC in 2011 and has since been ported to consoles and mobile platforms, including the Google Play Store. DR Studios, part of the 505 Games group, is behind Terraria’s door to Google’s platforms.

On February 1, Google announced that its development studio Stadia Games and Entertainment was closing, leaving Stadia as a platform for third-party games. There are more than 100 games available for the service, released in November 2019.
