Ted Cruz, ‘Princess Bride’ star Cary Elwes continues his duel on Twitter: ‘You miserable ROUS’

The rivalry between Cary Elwes and Ted Cruz is not over yet.

The British actor and Republican senator from Texas accessed Twitter on Wednesday, where they exchanged punches. The two have been shooting each other since last year.

“. @ tedcruz How does it feel to know that not only the entire cast and crew of your favorite movie, The Princess Bride, but almost the entire entertainment industry, has nothing but angry contempt for you? # inconceivable?” tweeted the 58-year-old man who starred in Rob Reiner’s 1987 film.

“I don’t think so, you miserable ROUS,” added the star.

“ROUS” refers to one of the monsters in the Oscar-nominated film, or “rodents of unusual size”.

Elwes’ tweet came in response to a comment Cruz made on his podcast “Verdict with Ted Cruz”.

“You noticed in how many films how often the angry environmentalists are the bad guys,” said the 50-year-old. “Be Thanos or go to ‘Watchmen’. The view on the left is that people are a disease. “

Cruz, a big fan of “The Princess Bride”, who is known for reciting entire scenes from the film, responded to Elwes’ tweet with a personally signed photo of the actor wearing his Westley costume.

“Does that mean you want your photo back?” Cruz asked.

In September, several members of the film’s cast came together for a virtual table reading that benefited the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and Joe Biden’s candidacy for president.

“Inconceivable,” Elwes tweeted, announcing the event.

Cruz was not happy with the statement by the Man in Black.

“Do you hear that Fezzik? That is the sound of final suffering,” he replied. “My heart made that sound when the six-fingered man killed my father. All Princess Bride fans who want to see that perfect movie preserved from Hollywood politics do it now.”

The event raised $ 4.3 million, reported the Wisconsin State Journal.

Mandy Patinkin, who starred as swordsman Inigo Montoya in “The Princess Bride”, spoke to the New York Times in 2015, when Cruz was running for the Republican presidential nomination. Cruz is known for repeatedly quoting his character’s phrase: “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Get ready to die.”

“This man is not presenting ideas that are at the heart of what the film is,” said Patinkin, 68. “I would love for Senator Cruz, and everyone who creates fear and hatred, to consider creating hope, optimism and love. Open your arms to these people, these refugees who try to enter our country, and open your hearts. “
