
SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan defended actress Gina Carano after she was expelled from “The Mandalorian” on controversial social media posts, saying “history will condemn the cowards who instituted justice against it”.
Carano – a former MMA fighter who played Cara Dune on hit Disney + show – was dropped because of a post that compared being a conservative in modern America to being a Jew in Nazi Germany.
“Gina Carano currently not employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future, “a spokesperson for Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, said in a statement. “However, your posts on social media denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are disgusting and unacceptable.”
Thursday evening (February 11), Dolmayan took to her Instagram to write: “It takes a lot of courage to put your career at risk for your convictions. The story will pay homage to people like @ginajcarano and condemn the cowards who instituted the justice brought against her.”
In one of her already excluded Instagram Posts, Carano it implied that there are similarities between being a Republican today and a Jewish people who lived during the Holocaust.
“Jews were beaten on the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors … even by children. As the story is edited, most people today do not realize that, to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily to arrest thousands of Jews, the government first caused its own neighbors to hate them simply because they were Jews. How this is different from hating someone for their political views, “said the post she shared.
This is not the first time CaranoSocial media posts have been controversial. In November, the 38-year-old actress, who has expressed her support for the then president Donald Trump, openly questioned whether the 2020 presidential election was fair. At the time, she tweeted: “We need to clean up the electoral process so that we don’t feel like we do today. Implement laws that protect us against electoral fraud.”
After Lucasfilm confirmed Caranoexit from “The Mandalorian”, some of his fans launched a campaign to boycott Disney +. The hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus is also on the rise.
Carano was also dropped by his agency, United Talent Agency, according to several reports.
