WandaVision is set to continue the MCU tradition of interconnecting established Marvel properties, as well as presenting those yet to be explored. Cast members of the new show include Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis of the first two Thor films, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Teyonah Parris (White ones) as an adult Monica Rambeau de Captain Marvel. SHIELD has also been a key part of Marvel, which has been fully integrated into the MCU, but WandaVision now led to the inclusion of the SHIELD interstellar branching organization known as SWORD, originally introduced on the pages of Astonishing X-Men # 6 in 2004.
Twitter user with eagle eyes TASK of the old Nerdy Bastard noted in promotions WandaVision that the acronym for SWORD has changed. Your post features a side-by-side comparison of both WandaVision logo version for SWORD and the comic book version. WandaVision SWORD stands for “Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division”, differing from the original “Sentient World Observation and Response Department”. You can see the post below:
Interesting. So the acronym SWORD in the MCU is a bit different from the comic book version. Instead of “Sentient World” it is “Sentient ARMAS”. It makes sense to #WandaVision. But I wonder if they will explore space too … pic.twitter.com/7oxmfdsPpY

This would not be the first departure from Marvel’s source material when translating an acronym for the MCU. SHIELD on the comic book pages originally meant “Headquarters of the Supreme International Espionage and Law Enforcement Division”. It was then changed in the 1990s to “Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate”, before finally being introduced by Agent Coulson as the “Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division” in 2008 Iron Man, the first MCU film.
Although the changes are mostly small, there are still doubts as to whether the variation in the two names is superficial. The acronym MCU SWORD may have been adjusted to be more uniform with SHIELD – “Division” being the last word and “Letter D” for both. But the change at the beginning – “Sentient World” to “Sentient Weapon” may be the crucial one, potentially describing Vision, which, as fans know, is a sentient android. Is he now being “armed” by SHIELD to prepare for future intergalactic insurgents? Post-credits from Spider-Man: away from home revealed Nick Fury establishing space-based operations, which although speculated to be connected with Marvel Secret Invasion, is also possibly the birth of SWORD All of WandaVision it can, in fact, end up being a simulation running on the mental processor of a reconstructed Vision robot, with the purpose of “teaching” it (programming) to value and prioritize human existence and life, and the very heart of SWORD. Whatever the secret, the debut of WandaVision it is made of intrigue and enthusiasm when the next phase of the MCU is set to begin.
