Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist signs a general contract with Warner Bros. TV and creates its own production company

Melissa Benoist will take a more active role in finding new projects once her time at Supergirl is over, after she signed a new general contract and moved on to form a production company.

The 32-year-old actress signed an exclusive multi-year contract with Warner Bros. Television, Variety reported on Friday.

As soon as his Supergirl series ends, after the next sixth season, Benoist will focus his attention on his new company, Three Things Productions.

Through his company, which named Mary Oliver’s poem, Three Things To Remember, Benoist will be developing and producing original television shows.

The company said in a statement that its mission is to find ‘meaningful projects that are unapologetic, courageous and authentic, with the aim of exploring stories that make an impact’.

The company will make TV shows for WarnerMedia’s main streaming service, HBO Max, as well as for other cable channels or broadcast stations.

The new deal marks Benoist’s first general deal as a producer with a large studio.

Joining the actress as vice president of development for her production company will be Sahar Kashi, who previously worked as a creative executive on Apple TV + Home Before Dark, as well as on Netflix’s high school dark drama, 13 Reasons Why.

Before moving to Apple, she worked on Netflix and Fox.

Benoist, who has appeared on Glee and the Waco miniseries, welcomed her first child, son Huxley, with her husband Chris Wood in September 2020.

The couple became engaged in February 2019 and married in September of the same year.
