Steve Kerr calls Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio

After a violent attack by supporters of President Donald Trump on U.S. Capitol Hill, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave a message to Republican senators who fueled the electoral conspiracy theories that sparked Wednesday’s insurrection.

Speaking to the media before the game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, Kerr suggested that Sens. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley did the same before meeting at the Capitol.

“I would like people like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley to have to do media before the game before meeting in Congress,” said Kerr. “It would be great for them to answer the question, ‘Are you happy now? Do you keep moving the line back? Does that change anything? Will you continue to enable? ‘”

Why did Kerr choose senators?

Hawley, a loyal to Trump who represents Missouri, was the first senator to announce that he would oppose counting the electoral college votes that confirm President-elect Joe Biden as Trump’s successor. Hawley cited unfounded electoral theories exposed by Trump that the votes in some states that went to Biden were invalid.

He was seen supporting the crowd on Wednesday.

That count was scheduled to take place by Congress on Wednesday, before the crowd backed by Trump and his supporters attacked the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the democratic process.

Hawley refused to withdraw his objection when the Senate met on Wednesday night after the attack.

Cruz, a loyal to Trump who represents Texas, also promised before the attack to oppose the electoral college’s vote count. He was one of six senators alongside Hawley to proceed with his objection on Wednesday night.

Rubio, a Florida Republican, declined to state his position on electoral college certification. He launched an unfounded election day conspiracy theory that supported Trump’s attempt to delegitimize the election.

Kerr talks about the police response to the Capitol crowd

Kerr also addressed the discrepancy in how the police dealt with the mostly white protesters on Wednesday, compared to the systemic violence suffered by black Americans at the hands of law enforcement.

“What you are seeing today is a reminder that there is a big difference,” said Kerr. … We all understand that there would have been guns on fire and fire on fire right now if there were black people protesting. … Nothing will change until we recognize that there is a huge difference in how blacks are treated with respect to law enforcement. “

Police were seen on Wednesday posing with attackers and helping them down stairs.

Kerr was not the only person to make that observation on Wednesday.

After Kerr’s comments before the game, Warriors and Clippers players knelt during the national anthem before the game.
