Valve’s support for the new next-generation controllers from Sony and Microsoft on Steam has been further enhanced thanks to a new update for the platform’s beta client.

Those who own an Xbox Series X / S controller, for example, now have the option to link the device’s share button; in addition, more than four controllers can be used simultaneously on Steam, if you have that specific need, and the rumble trigger is now compatible with games that use the Windows.Gaming.Input API.

Valve is also improving its support for the Xbox Elite controller, with users now able to attach the rear paddles as they wish.

On the Sony side, although some of the more sophisticated features found on the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller are not yet supported – such as the adaptive triggers and tactile feedback – Valve offered a small update that allows players to customize their LEDs.

Now, using the appropriate drop-down menu in the controller customization menu, you can enable the DualSense LEDs, disable them or set them to illuminate only when multiple DualSense controllers are connected to Steam.

Those who wish to put the various settings of the Valve controller at their pace can do so by enabling the Steam Client Beta and ensuring that it is updated to the latest version. Some additional details about the newly introduced features of the beta can be found on Steam.
