When Disney redefined the Star Wars canon, the old canon did not die, it was just … reprinted. Or this is the case with three classics, beloved Star Wars soap operas, which is receiving elegant new editions in June, with some truly phenomenal works of art.

Del Rey announced that Timothy Zahnin Heir to the empire, By Drew Karpyshyn Path of Destructionand Matthew Stover’s Shatterpoint will be the first three of an entire line of Star Wars Subtitles (also known as the old canon) novels re-released as larger-format commercial brochures. Check out his art:

As for the legends novels to launch the line, these three are solid choices. Heir to the empireand, of course, introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn, a villain so loved that he was recanonized in Rebels. Path of Destruction it is set during the Old Republic and serves as the biography of Darth Bane, who transformed the Sith into his master-apprentice pair. Shatterpoint was the first Clone Wars romance, and starring Mace Windu. (If you’re wondering why your new audiobook is important, it’s because the original recording has been summarized.)

All three books will be available on June 15, and more legends novels will be reprinted in the fall. Which ones do you expect to arrive on the lot? I’m guessing not Crystal Star.
