South Carolina’s new coach Shane Beamer hires coordinators

COLOMBIA, SC – New South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer hired NFL assistant Marcus Satterfield as an offensive coordinator and Clayton White of Western Kentucky as a defensive coordinator.

Beamer also appointed Luke Day of Marshall as the Gamecocks strength and conditioning trainer. South Carolina’s first-year coach announced the signings.

Satterfield, who will also serve as a defender, has spent the past three seasons working with Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule. Satterfield was Rhule’s recruiting director at Baylor in 2018, before becoming Bears coach the following season.

Satterfield spent the past season as assistant coach for the Panthers’ offensive line after Rhule joined the NFL.

Satterfield replaces South Carolina interim coach Mike Bobo, who Beamer kept on the team after signing last month. But Bobo accepted the offer to join Auburn and new coach Bryan Harsin as an offensive coordinator.

White has spent the past four seasons as the Hilltoppers’ defensive coordinator and cornerback trainer. He was nominated for the Frank Broyles Award, given to the best assistant coach in college football, in 2017, 2019 and 2020.

Day spent the last season as a principal strength trainer at Marshall.
