Sony will offer PS4 ‘Ratchet and Clank’ for free, without the need for PS Plus

Sony offered free games and other entertainment last spring to help PlayStation players overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, and is bringing this campaign back to what could be the last few months of blockades (hopefully? Please?) . Play At Home’s revived effort will offer giveaways between March and June to encourage social distance as the weather warms up, and the first offer is big. You will receive a free copy of Ratchet and Clank for PS4 between March 1 at 11 pm ET and March 31 at 11 pm ET, no PlayStation Plus subscription is required – the generally well-received action adventure you save for posterity.

The company has not provided full details of what is to come, but Funimation (plus its European counterpart Wakanim) will offer “extended access” to its anime service for new subscribers starting March 25. More free games and entertainment offers are on the way.

This is not just an altruistic gesture. A free copy of Ratchet and Clank effectively serves as a promotion for Rift ApartPS5 debut in June, for example. Nor would we expect many recent games or long-lasting media deals. Still, it can help you feel better if you are stuck on a beautiful day.
