Sony Vision-S electric car goes out for safety testing

At CES 2020, Sony – yes, Sony – showed off a car. Wild times. although CES 2021 did not provide us with another automotive venture from a Japanese company, the company released a new video of its Vision-S electric car tests in Austria on public roads. It is a big step for the company, although Sony says it is not looking forward to building cars. If nothing else, the video provides a great test for the new Airpeak Drone, which used to capture aerial images.

Instead, Sony said the public tests of the Vision-S are to validate the safety systems developed for the car. After all, Vision-S should be a continuous showcase of the company’s sensors and imaging technologies, in addition to the infotainment technology planned for the auto industry. In the new video, we can see the front and center multi-panel display for driver information, infotainment and more. The fact that everything works is impressive, considering that the car was not made for production. That did not stop Sony from working with Magna Steyr last year to put the car on the streets of Austria for the first time.

Assuming Sony doesn’t change course and decide to build the car, Vision-S will continue to work and test the company’s technologies. Last year, the technology company said the car’s characteristics Partly automated level 2 technology with its 33 fixed sensors. The level of autonomy will increase, according to Sony, so we may have to wait for another CES to see what will come from Vision-S.
