More plans for Sony’s PS5 emerged at CES 2021, at least if you look closely. During its press conference at the virtual technology event, Sony included a segment in its new gaming console that was certainly financially successful, even though it is difficult to find where to buy the PS5.
And with the PS5 conversation came a sizzle reel of some of the games we can expect in 2021 – including some launch information for the upcoming titles.
We already know that exclusive exclusives like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West are scheduled to happen in 2021, but there are certainly more. On the last slide, we found launch windows for other games as well, including Kena: Bridge of Spirits in March, Little Devil Inside in June, Solar Ash in July and Ghostwire Tokyo and Stray in October 2021.
Sony’s Jim Ryan, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, also dealt a small blow to Microsoft and its recent round of aggressive multi-billion dollar studio acquisitions.
“We believe in storytelling on PlayStation, it’s part of our DNA,” said Ryan. “We will continue to bring games of incredible quality through our PlayStation studios after years of organic growth and selective acquisitions.”
The trailer also showed Returnal by Finnish developer Mousemarque and Capcom’s Pragmata.
Since game development is not an exact science, it is possible that these games can be removed from the proposed launch windows. Still, 2021 is already proving to be a stellar year for games.
Some of the upcoming games we’re excited about include Hitman 3 on January 20, Yakuza: Like a Dragon for March 2 and It Takes Two for March 26. The line of games is so strong that we feel that the PS5 will dominate 2021.
