Sonic The Hedgehog’s Green Hill Zone will become a LEGO set

An official LEGO set from Sonic the Hedgehog will be released thanks to a fan design that has gained momentum online through the LEGO Ideas program. The Sonic Mania Green Hill Zone design of the Sonic Mania Green Hill Zone by UK construction company Viv Grannell has been approved by the LEGO Group and will be produced and sold in collaboration with SEGA.

No release date has been set for the design, as product development will only begin with the entry of Sega, but will be launched worldwide. You can see the concept image for the set below:

The design received 10,000 votes as part of the LEGO Ideas program, which allows fans to submit homemade designs to be voted on by the LEGO community. Sets that achieve traction like this have the chance to become real products.

“I’ve been investing in the Sonic world for almost my entire life,” said designer Viv Grannell, “and it’s such a perfect fit for the LEGO system that I spent about a year gathering support to make it happen. Having 10,000 people supporting my project was overwhelming enough, even with friends and family behind me, but having it selected for further development was the most exciting secret I ever had to keep! “

The scene is based on the 2017 Sonic Mania’s Green Hill Zone level and includes a number of Sonic characters, such as the titular hedgehog, Dr. Eggman, the Egg Robot robot and the Hard-Boiled Heavies. “Featuring a wide variety of elements inspired by Classic Sonic, the set will provide LEGO collectors and fans with a truly supersonic LEGO experience,” says the LEGO press release.

In another Sonic the Hedgehog news, a Netflix series based on the blue blur called Sonic Prime was recently revealed and is set to premiere in 2022. You can check IGN’s review of Sonic Mania here, which we scored 8.7, by calling it that of “the classic retrospective of old series that fans have been clamoring for.
