Two people who left their last jobs amid beer scandals came together to rehabilitate the image of a company that is certainly going through its worst days.
Former director of the cybersecurity and infrastructure agency, Chris Krebs, unceremoniously fired by President Trump after the November elections, he founded a new company with Alex Stamos, the former head of Facebook’s security operations, who left the company amid revelations about his involvement in the Cambridge-Analytica scandal. Merely called the Krebs Stamos Group, the startup already has its first customer: a small company called SolarWinds.
That’s right. The software company in the middle of the greatest hack in American history hired Krebs and Stamos as consultants to help rebuild confidence in their brand. Hiring Krebs and Stamos is an interesting move – considering that they, like SolarWinds, have significant professional reputations that, however, have been forced to withstand several major IT scandals.
Previously, Krebs served as director of CISA, one of the most prominent cyber positions within the federal government. Trump fired Krebs after he refused to back up the president is false allegations about a “fraudulent election” and electoral fraud. While Krebs said he helped with preside over the “safest election” ever, he also served on CISA while SolarWinds hackers apparently infiltrated every federal agency imaginable – nothing spectacular to have on his resume.
