Sofía Vergara wins big in frozen embryo action against Nick Loeb

Sofía Vergara won yet another judicial round against ex-fiance Nick Loeb for the custody of the frozen embryos of the ex-boyfriends. His victory could finally put an end to the blunt legal war.

Vergara received a permanent injunction on Tuesday by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge who will ban Loeb from carrying the embryos to term without Vergara’s “explicit written consent”.

The judge also concluded that Loeb violated a contract between the ex-couple by opening a trust fund for embryos under Louisiana law, and sued custody there on behalf of the embryos.

The injunction will prevent Loeb from “unilaterally enforcing any claim (s) by or on behalf of Embryos to seek redress for the purpose of bringing Embryos to term unilaterally without Vergara’s consent,” wrote Judge Rafael Ongkeko.

Loeb and Vergara split up in 2014. But Loeb then launched a legal battle for years in several states over two frozen embryos from the couple’s 2013 IVF treatments. He sought custody to take them to prison and even gave them names on court documents.

But it looks like the case is finally coming to an end: Loeb also recently lost an appeal in Louisiana after a state court ruled that he and his lawyer were “flagrantly involved in seeking forums” when he filed the case in the hope that local laws were more favorable.

Loeb’s lawyer, Jalesia McQueen, told Page Six that they will appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court. But Vergara’s legal team then filed papers seeking to prevent McQueen of St. Louis from representing him in the Louisiana case.

McQueen did not comment.

Vergara has been married to movie star Joe Manganiello since 2015. Loeb now has a daughter with a girlfriend who lives in Europe.

Loeb also directed a new anti-Roe v film. Wade starring Jon Voight, who debuted during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida.
