The moderate level of transmission for COVID-19 loosens some health restrictions.

The two largest counties in the state have been at the Alto level since last year. As of Thursday, there were now 11 counties in Utah under the name of Moderate.

The Utah Department of Health allows counties to move to the Moderate level when, among other metrics, the 7-day average percent positivity drops below 10%. The average 7-day positivity across the state of Utah was 10.2% on Wednesday.

The Moderate level allows social gatherings for up to 25 people, an increase from the 10 allowed in the High level restrictions.

Even at the Moderate level, masks should still be used indoors and outdoors, when residents are not able to distance themselves socially.
