“After launching the Slack Connect DMs this morning, we received valuable feedback from our users on how email invitations to use the feature could be used to send abusive or harassing messages,” said Jonathan Price, vice president of communications and policies from Slack to CNN Business in a statement. “We are taking immediate steps to prevent this type of abuse, starting today with the removal of the ability to personalize a message when a user invites someone.”
“People within your companies … routinely exchange messages with external people, whether customers or partners, suppliers and so on,” said Butterfield. “We want to make it as easy as possible and, at best, as pleasant as possible, for two people to use Slack Connect so that you have much more control and more insight into how this communication is going on.”
