GenDesign, the studio that is made up of developers who have worked on successful games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossusand more recently The Last Guardian, started showing what he is doing next. Although there is very little to see about this mysterious project so far, a new image of the game has recently been released.
On the official GenDesign website, the studio updated the home page of the website to present a new greeting that wishes the fans happy in 2021. The website itself, however, also features an image that shows four of the games the studio worked on . The three titles mentioned in Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian were shown in the image, with the fourth game being shown clearly being the studio’s most recent project.
As for what we can do with this image of the new mystery game, well, there’s not much to see. In terms of aesthetics, it seems to be in line with what GenDesign has worked on in the past and features a palette of bright colors. We can also see a character who appears to be wearing a poncho of some kind next to what may be a rock. Water and grass also involve this character.
Even though GenDesign hasn’t formally revealed what this new title will look like, there are some important details about it that we know about. Work on the project would have started as early as 2018. Last year, it was also announced that Epic Games would finance the development of the game. GenDesign retains full control and ownership of IP itself, while profits are split 50/50 between the two parties.
It is not known when the last GenDesign game could arrive, but based on this agreement with Epic, it should reach a variety of platforms. Despite having previously released all of its games only on PlayStation platforms, it now looks like Xbox and PC players will be able to take action in the future.
Hopefully, GenDesign’s initial provocation to start the year means that the studio is looking to share more about the game in 2021. If that happens, we will obviously inform you here on ComicBook.com.
