“If they get together and have a lawsuit, I will definitely consider any articles they can submit, because, as I said, I believe the president disregarded his term of office,” Sasse said in an interview with “CBS This Morning”.

“He took an oath to the American people to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. He acted against it,” said Sasse. “What he did was wicked.”

Sasse in the interview hesitated a little, suggesting that it may not be in America’s best interest to accuse Trump, even if there was impugnable conduct, since he is only in office for another 12 days.

“The question is more of a prudential question. What is the best thing for America in 2022 or 2032. The question is not what is best for Donald Trump,” said Sasse.

Trump was under a bipartisan rage after inciting a crowd that attacked the Capitol on Wednesday in one of the most shameful scenes in U.S. history.

For more than 24 hours, Trump did little to show any regrets, instead he uploaded a video on Wednesday that spent more time repeating conspiracy theories about his defeat in the November elections than asking for calm or pushing protesters to leave the Capitol.

On Thursday night, the president changed course amid growing political pressure, resignations from cabinet officials and the real possibility of facing legal danger from his actions, condemning the riot in another video.
