Deadline reports that Muschietti and DC Films chief Walter Hamada, alongside Warner Bros. producers, were impressed by the “harshness and vulnerability” that Calle brought to the role, among all other auditions.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. United States, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, ”said Muschietti. “The talent pool was really incredible and it was very difficult to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play that role.”
