Samsung starts launching Android Auto support for SmartThings

Last week, Samsung announced during the Unpacked 2021 event that it will bring Android Auto support to SmartThings. The new feature allows users to control their smart home products directly from the car’s infotainment unit. Now, the company has started rolling out the new feature to some users.

The integration of Android Auto with the SmartThings app seems to be going live with version 1.7.59.23. If you received this update on your smartphone, you can start using SmartThings on your car’s Android Auto-compatible dashboard. The Android Auto section appears in the app’s settings menu, and you can select which SmartThings devices you want to appear on the car’s screen. You can select up to six devices or SmartThings Scenes. You can also choose to receive automatic notifications for scenes running when you approach your home (or any chosen location).

The SmartThings application icon appears in the Android Auto application launcher. After starting the app, you can turn on / off smart home devices with a simple click. You can also turn on / off automatic notifications for scenes running in the Settings menu in the upper right corner. You can also control SmartThings devices through Google Assistant on Android Auto.
