Salma Hayek remembers sobbing while filming the ‘Desperado’ sex scene

Salma Hayek is opening up about how her first film role caused her a lot of sadness.

The 54-year-old star appeared on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast on Monday, where she reflected on her decisive role in 1995’s “Desperado” alongside Antonio Banderas.

The award-winning actress recalls being thankful for getting the role of Carolina, but admits that she did not know that she would have to film a sex scene until production began.

“So when we were going to start filming, I started sobbing, ‘I don’t know if I’m going to make it. I’m scared,'” Hayek reminded Shepard and his co-host Monica Padman.

Hayek said she and Banderas filmed the scene on a closed set with director Robert Rodriguez and his then wife, producer Elizabeth Avellán, with whom she said she had close ties.

“One of the things I feared was Antonio – he was an absolute and very nice gentleman, and we are still very close friends – but he was very free. It scared me that for him, it was like nothing. I started crying, and he said, ‘Oh my God. You are making me feel terrible. ‘ And I was so ashamed to be crying, “she continued.

The “Frida” star emphasized that Banderas and Rodriguez “never pressed her”, but she still remembers vivid details of the experience.

“When you are not you, you can do that. But I keep thinking about my father and my brother,” she added. “And will they see? And will they be teased? Guys don’t have that. Your dad will be like, ‘Yes! This is my son!'”

“Desperado” helped launch the Mexican-American star’s career, and she has been on the market for three decades.

In another part of the interview, Hayek talked about his 2009 marriage to wealthy French businessman François-Henri Pinault. She faced complaints and rumors that she only ended up with Kering’s CEO for his money, which she denied.

“You know that in the photos you can’t even imagine his magic,” said the Oscar nominee. “He made me become a much better person and grew up in such a good and healthy way.”
