Sacha Baron Cohen’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday was quite a ride.
The “Borat” star scoffed at rock star Bono, actor Tom Cruise, rapper Kanye West and Donald Trump Jr. in a parody that saw him being caught selling COVID-19 vaccines live on the air.
Baron Cohen’s wife, Isla Fisher, made a wild cameo.
The segment ended with a police raid, a car chase and an accident – all while Baron Cohen repeatedly condemned “those who use power to make progress”.
At the beginning of the interview, Baron Cohen revealed Kimmel’s inadvertent role in the resurrection of his Kazakh journalist character for “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”, which was released in October 2020.
Baron Cohen recalled how, after returning to the role for a video on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” before the 2018 intermediate races, he suddenly realized that it would not be impossible to play against Borat again.
He asked the writer’s office for another film he was working on if there was a new film “Borat” “could we leave in time for the election” and “about 15 minutes later we had an idea, three days later we had set it up in a studio. “
“Wow, this is unbelievable,” Kimmel replied to the story.
“So, I appreciate it, but you won’t get a share,” Baron Cohen replied playfully.
