Rudy Giuliani has not been confirmed as chief attorney in Trump Impeachment

Rudy Giuliani said on ABC News on Saturday that he will help defend the president in his second impeachment trial – but a Trump spokesman tweeted hours after Trump has yet to choose his legal representative.

“I’m involved now … that’s what I’m working on,” said Giuliani to White House correspondent, head of ABC News, Jonathan Karl.

But early Sunday, Trump campaign spokesman J. Hogan Gidley tweeted that such a decision was not made.

“Statement on President Trump’s impeachment advocacy team,” began the tweet.

“President Trump has not yet defined which lawyer or law firm will represent him in the infamous attack on our Constitution and democracy, known as an ‘impeachment hoax’.

‘We will keep you informed.’ ”

The House passed an impeachment article on Wednesday accusing Trump of inciting insurrection for his role in the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill; Spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi has not yet said when she will send the article to the Senate for trial.
