LaMarcus Aldridge’s time with the San Antonio Spurs may not have been as successful as he would have liked, but there is no doubt that he made a big impact on the city, the team and his teammates.
After news of his imminent departure from Spurs, his teammates Rudy Gay and Patty Mills made a point of reminding everyone how great and influential he is for the organization. Although it may be a sad ending, Gay noted that the great veteran man has yet to be celebrated.
“He did very, very good things as a Spur, and I think it’s time to celebrate what he did. You can’t forget what LaMarcus did here, ”said Gay of his teammate on Spurs, whom he also called his good“ friend, ”according to Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News.
Mills, for his part, wished nothing but the best for Aldridge, expressing his hope that his next team after the Spurs would give the striker the chance to dispute the title.
“He is very respected by this particular group and by all the teams he played for. As a teammate, you wish him the best and hope that the next chapter of his journey will work for him. He’s an incredible player, an incredible professional … ”added Mills.
It is not yet known where LaMarcus Aldridge will arrive, but it seems that fans will not have to wait long to know. After all, as it was Gregg Popovich himself who broke the news, chances are they are already involved in meaningful commercial discussions for the attacker.
For what it’s worth, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Spurs are confident they will be able to find a suitable partner and commercial returns next week for the 35-year-old.
