“It came to my attention that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a tweet a few hours ago in which she accused Senator Ted Cruz, in essence, of attempted murder,” wrote Roy, who previously served as Cruz’s chief of staff.
“As a member of this body who disagreed with ‘objections’ to voters and who publicly expressed my concerns about the events leading up to January 6, it is totally unacceptable behavior for a member of Congress to make this kind of rude accusation against another member of the House or Senate for simply engaging in speech and debate about voters as they interpret the Constitution, “he continued.
“I ask you to call her to apologize immediately and retract your comments.”

At least one participant in the deadly January 6 uprising on the United States Capitol would have made violent threats specifically against Ocasio-Cortez.
Roy concluded the letter by stating that if Ocasio-Cortez did not apologize for his words, there would be further steps taken to condemn his statement.
“If Congressman Ocasio-Cortez does not apologize immediately, we will be forced to find alternative ways to condemn that regrettable statement,” Roy wrote in a letter to Pelosi on Thursday.
The Hill contacted Ocasio-Cortez’s office for comment.
