Regina King’s dog dozing behind her was the Globes’ best virtual red carpet look

It seems that the glitz of Hollywood premium fashion is less exciting for a dog than, say, a squirrel.

Case in point: Regina King’s puppy, Cornbread, made great appearances during his virtual interviews on the Golden Globe red carpet on Sunday night, when the dog decided to go to the “NBC Golden Globe Pre-show” and then postponed to another Q&A with E! (above).

Many people on Twitter loved watching doggo walking casually on a suspiciously placed dog bed for a nap while the director of “One Night in Miami” talked about his nominated film and marveled at a beautiful Louis Vuitton dress.

King’s Golden Globe nomination for best director, along with Chloe Zhao for “Nomadland” and Emerald Fennell for “Promising young woman”, was certainly important, since it was the first time in the management of the awards that more than one woman was nominated in the category – but Cornbread didn’t give a damn.

And like most of us on Zoom company calls during the pandemic, King’s interviewers had a hard time ignoring his sleepy sweetheart’s apparent indifference.

“I love that corn bread back there. Her dog is like, ‘Listen, mommy looks amazing and I don’t care if it’s the award season, I’m relaxing’, ”observed Karamo Brown of“ Queer Eye ”with joy during King’s interview with E!

“Your dog is trying to steal the show,” Susan Kelechi Watson, co-host of NBC’s Golden Globes Pre-Show, told King.

This is not the first time King has come to attention in an unexpected way during the awards season.

In September 2020, she made headlines when she wore a “Say Her Name” T-shirt with a portrait of Breonna Taylor while receiving the award for Best Leading Actress in a Limited Series or Film for her performance on HBO’s “Watchmen”.
