Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page goes straight from the Regency era to Studio 8H.
Fresh from Shondaland’s success on Netflix, Page will make his debut on “Saturday Night Live” on February 20, with musical guest Bad Bunny, who will also make his first appearance on the famous comedy show.
In “Bridgerton,” Page plays Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, a bold bachelor who is committed to avoiding marriage until he finds his match. The series, based on the Julia Quinn novels of the same name and brought to life by “Scandal” producers Chris Van Dusen and Shondaland, quickly became Netflix’s most watched original series: the streaming service said 82 million members watched it the series in its first 28 days online.
Since then, Page has soared on the list of speculated actors to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. He is currently nominated for a SAG Award and a NAACP Image Award.
The prolific Bad Bunny, who released three successful albums last year, was honored with VarietyThe second annual achievement of the International Music Award in 2020. Notable recent performances include appearances in the 2020 Super Bowl alongside Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and J Balvin, evening shows “The Late Late Show With James Corden” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon ”, and the Bad Bunny Uforia Concert that he performed in October. Along with his trio of projects – “YHLQMDLG”, “Las Que No Iban a Salir” and “El Ultimo Tour del Mundo”, the last of which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart – Bad Bunny received eight nominations, including one victory, at the Latin Grammy and two American Music Awards. He is currently nominated for two Grammys.
Regina King will be the host of “Saturday Night Live”, with musical guest Nathaniel Rateliff. The host and musical guest for February 27 have yet to be announced.
