Rebecca Black launched a Remix of the 10th anniversary of his viral hit “Friday”. Yes, somehow, the original song was released 10 years ago and I never felt so old. The original song was released on February 10, 2011, which strangely means that this new version of “Friday” will be released on a Wednesday morning.
The original “Friday” was honestly kind of iconic to me. I was a senior in college when it came out and I remember hearing it almost everywhere I went on weekends – especially on Fridays.
The remix, which features 3OH! 3, Big Freedia and Dorian Electra, are a little busy and dance too much for me, though. The generic pop-rock vibe of the original is part of what made it so good, and I feel like this remix misses that.
And yes, there is a new music video, and it is a lot.
