Rand Paul on the MLB-Georgia controversy: ‘If they want to boycott us, we will boycott them’

It may be time for Republicans to start boycotting corporations that have demonstrated against Georgia’s electoral law, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Told “The Story” on Monday.

PAUL: The Major League Baseball wants boycott the entire state of Georgia, including Atlanta. They’ve already gotten rid of the Star Game and the draft. They are doing this because they do not like a republican law, a law that expands the vote – it does not contract the vote. Georgia now has more early votes than New York. It’s ridiculous. Even the facts do not match what they are trying to do.

What I mean is that if they want to boycott us, we’ll boycott them. It is the only thing that will teach them a lesson. If Coca-Cola wants to operate only in Democratic states and wants only Democrats to drink Coca-Cola, God love them. We’ll see how they will do when half the country stops drinking Coca-Cola and half the country stops using Delta. They are all awake, but they are doing something against the financial interests of all companies. Publicly traded companies generally do not get involved in politics because it damages their financial results.

It is not the right or Republicans using race. It is the left using race and saying that everything is about racism. So whatever complaints they have – they say the obstructionist is somehow racist now, although most minorities have always supported the obstructionist because he specifically defended the rights of minorities.

But on second thought, I can’t imagine that they are boycotting Georgia’s state law and doing business with China. China has never seen a free election. China has been putting people in prison for more than a year for speech violations. Yet they [MLB] doing business with China. But Georgia expanded its vote, they added early voting, they have more early voting than Delaware and New York, and are they still punishing Georgia because it’s some kind of Jim Crow? Those people holding Jim Crow signs need to remember that it was the Democrats who instituted Jim Crow in the south. It is the legacy of the Democratic Party. What the Republicans did was to expand access to voting if you read the bill.

Facts matter. That is why there must be a wide range of news outlets, so that there is not a single set that is shaping news to an opinion. We still have a wide variety. So, there are points of sale like yours [Fox News] that are transmitting both sides of it. People can find that out. There is no way to sweep it under the rug. I really think all of these people are awake, but right now awake people like Stacey Abrams are starting to say, “What did I trigger?” Stacey Abrams and the Democrats cost Georgia $ 100 million in revenue because they complained about something they didn’t read and said something that wasn’t true.
