Proud boys fight with Washington police officers, accuse police of betraying the constitution after receiving pepper spray

Proud Boys members fought with police in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, when pro-Trump protests against certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory began before a vote in Congress. The video of the scene showed dozens of members of the group facing police officers, accused of treason to the Constitution. The clashes began after the Proud Boys tried to force their way through a police line at Black Lives Matter Plaza and the police pushed them. “You lost both sides of the support,” shouted a man. “We protect your cum, but we are no longer protecting you!” he said, recalling that he and other members of the group have military training. “You better protect us, or we’ll show you!” he said while another man could be heard shouting “heads are going to roll”.

At one point, several members of the group were seen charging at the police, only to be forced to retreat when the police sprayed them with pepper spray. Police said at least six people were arrested during Tuesday’s demonstrations, including charges of assaulting a police officer. It was not immediately clear whether any of the arrests resulted from the Proud Boys skirmishes. The clashes came after the group’s leader, Enrique Tarrio, was banned from the city before the “March by Trump” demonstration on Wednesday. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on his supporters to flood the streets for the rally, which aims to reinforce his baseless claims that he was the legitimate winner of the November 3 election. The rally coincides with a vote in Congress that will seal Biden’s victory.
